Bucharest Audio Tour
February 28, 2012
When I did this recording a few weeks ago, I was experiencing the hardest winter since I moved to Bucharest five years ago. People would send their friends abroad photos of cars and streets swallowed up by snow, frozen cables and huge icicles. But that image seemed incomplete without the sounds of the creaking snow, the wind which got stronger and stronger as you left the city or the roof crackling under the pressure of the storm outside. My hands froze on the microphone and I felt the cold getting to my bones but it was worth it – that’s how I got rid of my winter blues.

Il Postino
February 19, 2012
Il Postino (The Postman) is a film I saw a few years ago, when I was living in Sardinia. Grazie to Valerio, my Italian teacher for making us watch it.
This evening I remembered the scene when the postman records some of the sounds of the island where he lives (and which is not Sardinia) in order to send them to Pablo Neruda, his friend from faraway. Lucky it’s (still) on youtube:
I’m also doing a lot of sound recordings lately and will pubblish here a few of them: expect a lot of snow, wind and birds.
